Eva G. Torvaldsdottir (b. 1954) finished BSc degree in biology from the University of Iceland in 1981 and Cand. Agro. in horticultural science from the Agricultural University of Norway in 1990.
Eva was director of the Reykjavik Botanical Garden in 2000-2011, specialist at the Icelandic Institute of Natural History 1997-2000 and director of continuing education as well as lecturer in plant production at the Icelandic Horticultural College 1990-1997.
In 1981-1984 Eva worked on a study of flora and vegetation of the Reykjanes Peninsula commons and at the Icelandic Institute of Natural History she was a specialist in vegetation mapping. As the director of the Reykjavik Botanical Garden Eva had supervision of all plant collections, including plants from the Icelandic Flora and in relation to that, she took part in a study on the distribution of Icelandic vascular plants listed as endangered. In 2012-2013 Eva worked temporarily as a specialist at The Natural History Museum of Kopavogur in the survey on waterplants in Icelandic lakes.
